"What if I've never played the guitar before?" Private lessons are perfect for the student who is clear in his or her goals, but for the beginning student, they may not be practical. If you have never played before, you will want to enroll in one of our beginning courses. These are small classes that are specifically tailored to the needs of the beginning student. Here you will learn the basics of guitar, including tuning, maintenance, basic chords, scales, basic picking patterns and practice techniques for building finger and arm strength. What you will learn here can be carried into any course of private study. The beginning course consists of eight weekly classes. Enrollment is limited to ten students per course, and the eight-week course costs $120.00. Classes are currently held on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday nights at 8:00 pm and may be taught by Dave Pearson (Mondays and Wednesdays) or the excellent fingerstylist, Larry D. Brown (Tuesdays). Enrollment occurs during the two weeks before the first class in each session. Check our schedule of classes,or contact us for details on the next scheduled course. You will need to have a guitar to practice with while you are taking the classes. If you do not own a guitar, we do have high quality, inexpensive acoustic guitars available for purchase.
