Dave Pearson is a caring and patient teacher who will work with
you on the basis of your own goals. Lessons are
not rigidly structured, but are based upon a continual evaluation of your growing skills.
Dave's teaching focus and background is the American Fingerstyle technique (Leo Kottke or John Fahey), which is currently enjoying a surge in popularity. Students who will benefit the most from private lessons with Dave will be those who have a desire to learn fingerstyle playing (using the right hand fingers for individual notes, and not just strumming). Although fingerstyle borrows heavily from classical techniques (as well as early blues), it is usually played on a steel-string guitar. Whereas most music teachers work you into rigidly scheduled, half-hour time slots, a typical lesson with Dave will last about an hour. We strive to create a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere where learning can take place with little pressure. For this reason, we avoid scheduling lessons back-to-back when possible in case you need a bit more time. The cost for a lesson with Dave is similar to the prices we've been quoted for instruction elsewhere-- many less experienced teachers charge between $20.00 and $25.00 for a half-hour lesson, and we charge $50.00 per lesson (usually at least an hour). For students scheduling every other week, the cost per month is about the same, but you have the added advantages of a teacher with highly specialized skills and a teaching method that will have you playing music very quickly. But, don't take our word for it. Take a look at what a few of Dave's students have to say on the Student Testimonials page. Can you do himself or essayexpert.com.
